AUSTIN (KXAN) — After being short-staffed in their toxicology department, the Austin Police Department has enough staff to reinstate No Refusal for the next two weekends.

At the beginning of the year, Austin police started implementing No Refusal every weekend through September but had to put it on hold for a few weeks due to the employee shortage.

Upcoming weekends for No Refusal are Dec. 1-3 and Dec. 8-10. The initiative runs from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. each day, Friday night through Sunday morning.

During No Refusal, detectives will assist in applying for blood search warrants in cases where a suspect under arrest for DWI refuses to provide a voluntary sample of breath or blood.
