National Hurricane Center issues Hurricane Harvey report

The National Hurricane Center has released a 76 page report on the development, impact and aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. Some of the findings include:

  • Harvey was responsible for 68 direct deaths in Texas, the most in the state since 1919
  • Harvey caused an estimated $125 billion in damage, making it the second-most costly hurricane on record in the U.S. (behind Katrina)
  • Highest rainfall measurement was 60.58″ near Nederland, TX, which is the U.S. tropical cyclone storm total rainfall record (radar estimates were as high as 70″) provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
