LAKE TRAVIS, Texas (KXAN) – A man and a woman were reunited Sunday evening after the man fell out of a sailboat into the water at Lake Travis, said the Austin Fire Department and the Travis County Sheriff’s Office.

He went missing, triggering an emergency search that lasted 50 minutes until he was found safe on shore, AFD said.

It happened at about 4:57 p.m. near Bob Wentz Park at Windy Point, said Austin-Travis County EMS.

The woman who was left on board didn’t know how to operate the sailboat and was unable to guide it safely, said AFD.

The boat drifted to the shore while emergency crews searched for the missing man, the Sheriff’s Office said. Star Flight assisted in the search.

The man was located about 50 minutes later on a nearby dock by an ESD 1 Fire Boat, said AFD.

ATC EMS said he was in good condition and he was taken to an ambulance to warm up before being reunited with the woman.
