SPRING, Texas (KXAN) — How do you show your love for all things Houston during Christmastime? You put it in a holiday light display synced up to music by H-town’s finest, obviously.
That’s what Spring resident Frankie To-ong did, and now the video of his Christmas lights is getting love from everyone in the Bayou City, even from Houston rapper Paul Wall, whose music was featured in the display.
To-ong posted the video to his Facebook on Dec. 14, and since then it’s been viewed more than 800,000 times and shared nearly 23,000 times, as of Wednesday, Dec. 20.
“I’m a former DJ and the best thing about DJing is when you play the right track and the energy and the crowd gets incredible,” To-ong told the CW Houston. In To-ong’s Facebook post, he said the “H-town Xmas Lights 2017” isn’t on throughout the holiday season and the video was the best way to catch it.
The video starts off with a nod to World Series Champions Houston Astros and then pulls snippets from numerous Houston rappers such as Lil Keke’s “Southside,” DJ DMD’s “25 Lighters On My Dresser” and Mista Madd’s “Down South” to name a few.
The Houston Chronicle reports the homeowner actually put together most of the mix and light display last year, but only unveiled it last week.
Paul Wall liked it so much he even had to come by the house to check it out.
