Woman assaults Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo, faces charges, officials say

HOUSTON (KPRC) — A woman was charged after she assaulted Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo during her arrest, according to court documents.

Danielle Paris, 40, was charged with harassment of public servant after the assault on Acevedo on Saturday. Paris is being held at the Harris County Jail on a $3,000 bail.

Acevedo served as Austin’s police chief for nearly a decade before leaving to take the top job in Houston in November 2016.
