KYLE, Texas (KXAN) — A 22-year-old man has been found guilty of murder in the 2014 death of Carlos Edward Fernandez. Wednesday night we learned he has been sentenced to 25 years in prison.

Authorities say Michael Trejo shot and killed Fernandez at the Bluebonnet Estates Mobile Home Park in Kyle on April 14, 2014. According to an affidavit, Fernandez was found with a single gunshot wound to the back of the head behind a home on 147 Delray Dr.

Police said they responded to a disturbance just three hours before at the nearby intersection of Fountain Grove Drive and Antelope Hills Drive. At that time, they interviewed Fernandez as a witness and arrested a different person for allegedly discharging a weapon.

A Hays County jury found Trejo guilty on Tuesday.
