Gold medalist Simone Biles to become honorary Houston Texans cheerleader

Simone Biles will be the U.S. flag bearer at the Closing Ceremony.

AUSTIN (KXAN) — From the mat to the football field — four-time Olympic gold-medalist Simone Biles is trying on some cheerleading skills for size at the Houston Texans’ next home game.

The gymnast from Houston was only the fifth female gymnast to win four titles in the same Olympic Games — and now she becomes the Texans’ first-ever honorary cheerleader. The team announced she would dance with the cheerleaders, and even have her own locker.

“YES she will have that #HTownSwag and YES she will be wearing the #LegendaryRedBoots,” the Texans Cheerleaders tweeted.

Biles then tweeted “I CAN’T WAIT.”

The Texans play the San Francisco 49ers at home Dec. 10. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
