KYOTO, Japan (NBC News) — A wild boar caused a chaotic scene when it ran through the ancient capital of Japan on Monday.

The boar was first spotted by a guard at the famous Heian Shrine. He then was caught running through bicycle racks and various streets throughout Kyoto.

A man’s arm was fractured when the animal ran into him from behind. The boar then ran into and injured a construction worker.

Numerous people gathered with nets and other tools to try to corral the boar, but the animal managed to escape capture. The boar finally appeared once again about 2 miles away at another landmark where it fell into a moat and died. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
