WASHINGTON (KXAN) — It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas at the White House. On Monday, First Lady Melania Trump unveiled the beautiful decorations that are currently decking the halls.

This is President Donald Trump’s first Christmas in the White House and the theme for this year is “Time-Honored Traditions,” which was designed by First Lady Melania Trump to pay respect to 200 years of holiday traditions at the White House.

The East Wing is hosting the Gold Star Family Tree, which has been decorated with gold stars and patriotic ribbon. Visitors can write a message to their loved ones who are serving abroad on digital tablets.

The State Floor is lined with numerous white trees to celebrate the first themed White House Christmas.

“The President, Barron, and I are very excited for our first Christmas in the White House,” said First Lady Melania Trump in a press release. “As with many families across the country, holiday traditions are very important to us. I hope when visiting the People’s House this year, visitors will get a sense of being home for the holidays. On behalf of my husband and Barron, I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and joyous holiday season.”

The White House will host more than 100 open houses and receptions throughout the month of December.
