AUSTIN (KXAN) — Starting at the beginning of the near year, people visiting Hancock Golf Course during a weekday will pay for their round of golf via an automated pay station.

The city says normal pro shop operations will remain in place for Friday through Sunday and on holidays; the weekend is when the golf course generates the bulk of its revenue.

This latest change is how Austin’s Parks and Recreation Department is working to continue operations of the course even though revenue has fallen short of expenses for the past several years. Since 2012, the city has installed a new, reclaimed water irrigation system to help offset costs as well as rent it out more often for special events.

The new pay stations are slated to be installed in early January 2018. Signage will be placed at the course informing visitors of the changes.
