Mary Beth Bassett from the Galveston Island CVB came to our studio to let our viewers know about all of the exciting and festive happenings on Galveston Island during the holidays. Kicking things off on November 11 is the opening of Moody Gardens Festival of Lights and Ice Land. Festival of Lights takes visitors on a mile long stroll through decorative displays along the bayou. Ice Land is kept at a cool NINE degrees and features two million pounds of ice depicting the Moody Gardens Rainforest experience. The beloved Dickens on the Strand Festival takes place the first weekend in December. Here, visitors don Victorian costumes and watch parades, shop, eat and drink in a nod to Victorian England. This year, the downtown area will be decorated with a new lanterns and lights display at Saengerfest Park, perfect for family photos. Santa will visit the island, too. Find him at the fabulous brunch at Hotel Galvez, the Railroad Museum and at the Galveston Island Historic Pleasure Pier. And there’s much more. Oh! And did I mention all of these fun activities can be found along 32 miles of beautiful beaches? Make holiday memories and bring your family to Galveston Island! You can find out where to stay, what to do and more at the Visitor Information Center at 2328 Broadway Avenue in Galveston.
