SPICEWOOD, Texas (KXAN) — Over the next couple of days, Travis County Parks will conduct several prescribed burns at Pace Bend Park.
The burns will be conducted from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday. The prescribed burns will take approximately two to four hours to complete.
The county says the prescribed burns will help maintain the area by removing invading shrubs, reducing the number of exotic species and enhancing the health and diversity of the native plant community.
The park will remain open; however, some portions of the park, specifically near the southeast corner of the park (Baldwin Cove), will close for part of the week. In addition, the main park road and entrance are located immediately adjacent to the prescribed burn. The road is not expected to be closed, but some delays may occur.
