According to an arrest affidavit, Anthony Onorato, 35, was on Parkfield Drive waiting to turn onto Neans Drive when he struck the bicyclist around 7:30 p.m. When police spoke to Onorato, he said he was focused on waiting for northbound traffic to clear and as he turned, he didn’t notice the bicyclist until it was too late.

Officers conducted a field sobriety test on the driver and determined he was swaying and staggering. A breathalyzer test showed Onorato had a BAC of .081, which is just at the legal limit, continued in the affidavit.

The bicyclist was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Initial information indicates the bicyclist suffered a fractured skull.
