MANOR, Texas (KXAN) — A woman is in custody at the Travis County Jail accused of trying to set her roommate on fire.

Manor police say Jenna Tyon, 37, poured gasoline on the man and their home on the 11000 block of Athens Street on Wednesday around 7 p.m. The incident began when Tyon found out her roommate was planning a party she was not invited to.

Holding a lighter in her hand, Tyon threatened to burn the house down along with her roommate. The roommate was able to call 911 before she ignited the gasoline. Officers said they could smell gas on the roommate and inside the home.

When officers interviewed the suspect, she said, “It was a joke, I did have a can of gasoline, but I was only trying to get him to leave. I wasn’t trying to set the house on fire.”

Tyon faces aggravated assault charges with a deadly weapon.
