AUSTIN (KXAN) — The controversial Grove at Shoal Creek development has won approval from City Council. Developers have been working on project approval for two years.
The 76-acre Grove at Shoal Creek development is going to be built near Bull Creek Road and 45th Street.
KXAN reported last week that developers agreed to scale back plans for office spaces in the multi-use development in Austin after taking community feedback into consideration.
The project planners, ARG Bull Creek, Ltd., have agreed to include more than 20 acres of parkland to the development. The developer pushed back against Council, arguing the changes would reduce the scope of the project and increase the costs by a great amount.
Much of the controversy over the development focused on how much affordable housing should be included. Neighbors have said the development would cause significant traffic problems along their single lane roads.
