AUSTIN (KXAN) — The body of a man found Friday near a busy North Austin intersection is being investigated as a homicide.

Austin police say they were called to the wooded area at the corner of West Howard Lane and Metric Boulevard where the body was found at 4:25 p.m. Officers at the scene cordoned off the area with crime scene tape attached to signs advertising nearby homes for sale.

Officers say a groundskeeper mowing the grass found the man’s body. The surrounding neighborhood is not believed to be in any danger.

At an evening press conference, police said they did not have information on a possible suspect, and could only say the victim is a white male. Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call the Homicide Tip Line at 512-477-3588.
