SAN MARCOS, Texas (KXAN) — Early voting for December’s runoff election began Thursday in San Marcos. Voters will be looking to elect a new mayor and three of the four city council positions. You can see a list of all of the candidates on the city of San Marcos website.

In July, the current mayor, Daniel Guerrero, announced that he would not be seeking re-election. Those looking to vote early on Thursday were in and out in less than 15 minutes.

“I came here for the November election and had to wait for 30 minutes to vote. Today, there were no lines,” said San Marcos resident Walter Burris.

Other voters tell KXAN they hope to see more locals vote this year with so many positions open.

“We need good local people running our government, if you don’t have them then you won’t have a very good situation,” Bruce Harper said.
