Man hit by car in East Austin dies from his injuries

AUSTIN (KXAN) — A 69-year-old man hit by a car in East Austin Tuesday evening has died from his injuries.

Austin-Travis County EMS says the crash happened near the Manor Road and Anchor Lane intersection at around 5:52 p.m. Leslie Thomas was taken to University Medical Center Brackenridge in critical condition where he died at 6:19 p.m.

A Ford Ranger hit Thomas as he was crossing in an area police describe as “not an authorized safe area for pedestrians to cross.” The driver says he never saw the pedestrian.

Tuesday afternoon, a man crossing Interstate 35 at Oltorf Street was hit and killed by a truck. The incident marked the fourth deadly crash involving pedestrians on Interstate 35 in November and the ninth this year.
