Pedestrian critically injured in South Austin crash

AUSTIN (KXAN) — A man in his 40s has critical-life threatening injuries are being struck by a vehicle in South Austin Friday night, according to Austin-Travis County EMS.

According to police the man was walking in the crosswalk around 5:57 p.m. near South Congress and Sheraton Avenue when he was hit.

He was taken to St. David’s South Austin Medical Center.

Police say the driver stayed at the scene. No charges are expected to be filed but the investigation is ongoing. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
