AUSTIN, (KXAN) — The Austin Police Department confirms a woman was killed Thursday shortly after 6:30 p.m. while attempting to cross Interstate 35 and was struck by a vehicle.

According to APD, the victim is described as a woman in her 40s.

The incident happened in the 6100 block of North I-35’s southbound lanes, near St. John’s Ave., south of U.S. 183.

The incident marked the third time a person has been killed walking on Interstate 35 in the last two weeks. Wednesday morning, a man was hit by a car near Slaughter Lane at around 3:30 a.m. Last week, another man died after walking on the interstate near 51st Street at around 6 a.m.
