AUSTIN (KXAN) — Two roaming German Shepherds are in safe hands thanks to an Austin police officer.

On Sunday morning, police were called to South Congress Avenue for reports of two dogs roaming the streets. After some coaxing, the two officers were able to get the two dogs into the patrol car. A high-five was also in order for the team effort!

Animal Control says they were able to find the dogs’ owner via a microchip but once contacted he said he was unable to continue to care for the dogs and surrendered them over to the city. The owner said the dogs were able to get out through an open door.

The city says the dogs are not yet available for adoption.
