AUSTIN (KXAN) — Starting at 8 p.m., MoPac Expressway northbound traffic will be shifted between Lady Bird Lake and Enfield Road. Smaller closures will lead up to a complete shutdown of northbound MoPac at 11 p.m.

The following lane and ramp closures will be in place during the shift:

  • The Cesar Chavez and Sixth Street entrance ramp to northbound MoPac will be closed after 8 p.m. Traffic will be detoured to the Enfield Road entrance ramp.
  • The left lane of northbound MoPac will be closed from Lady Bird Lake to Enfield Road between 8 p.m. and 11 p.m.
  • The center and left lane of northbound MoPac will be closed from Enfield Road to Windsor Road between 8 p.m. and 11 p.m.
  • At 11 p.m. MoPac will be completely closed between the Enfield Road exit and the Enfield Road entrance ramp. All traffic will have to use the Enfield Road exit and pass through the signal at Enfield Road to re-enter northbound MoPac.

After 9 p.m., other work will necessitate the closure of the center and left lane of northbound MoPac from Enfield Road to 45th Street and RM 2222. The Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority says drivers may want to consider an alternate route.

All lanes should reopen no later than 6 a.m. Tuesday. Once the shift is complete, crews will be able to begin the process of restoring the third northbound lane of MoPac between the lake and Enfield Road.
