PFLUGERVILLE, Texas (KXAN) — As you’re preparing your Thanksgiving meal and watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade on Thursday, keep an eye out for Pflugerville’s Hendrickson High School!

The Hendrickson Hawks Marching Band was chosen to perform in the 2016 parade out of 175 applicants. The school is one out 10 chosen to participate.

Over the weekend, the band—made up of 350 students—loaded up all their gear to head to the Big Apple for the performance of a lifetime.

“The Macy’s Parade is something that as kids we watched every Thanksgiving and to be in it is completely, you know, like mind blowing,” says Hendrickson senior Megan Vickery who is a drum major.

“I’m super excited, this is a once in a lifetime experience and I’m very stoked about it,” says senior Sawier Cowan, who plays the flute.
