AUSTIN (KXAN) — According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 5.7 million Americans have experienced heart failure, leading to 1 in 9 deaths in the United States.

Studies have shown that a high protein diet could lead to an increased risk of heart failure for older women.

Gigi Barnett sat down with dietitian Amber Ilseng from St. David’s North Austin Medical Center to talk about the diet and how to avoid the risks of heart failure.
