AUSTIN (KXAN) – Austin city leaders have pushed for public transportation as a way to cut down traffic.

With the Austin Collective Project, Capital Metro brings the stories of those who use Austin’s public transportation to life.

The project started last year as a social media campaign modeled after Humans of New York, gathering 15 of Austin’s top photographers and filmmakers to show that all kinds of people use public transit.

“We want people to kind of realign their attitudes towards transit and try it here in Central Texas,” Capital Metro’s Amy Peck said. “Whether it’s to get to and from work, to meet up with friends, or a night on the town, they have a variety of reasons to take it.”

The Austin Collective Exhibition is one of 500 groups featured as part of the East Austin Studio Tours. Now on its last day, you can view the exhibition until 6 p.m. at the Calles Building Hall on 507 Calles St.
