Jury deliberating in case of man accused of killing his child’s mother

Miguel Angel Aguinaga-Rodriguez

AUSTIN (KXAN) — A jury will continue deliberations this morning in the murder of an Austin mother.

A friend found 32-year-old Elizabeth Adame-Gaspar dead in her apartment complex on Anderson Lane in April 2015. Austin Police charged the father of the woman’s youngest child, Miguel Aguinaga-Rodriguez, with murder.

Police say Gaspar had injuries sustained from an assault. The Travis County Medical Examiner determined her cause of death was a homicide.

While investigating the case, detectives learned the victim was assaulted in the past by Rodriguez. Investigators say he confessed to hitting Gaspar, but claims he didn’t know she died. Rodriguez told police he “might have hit her twice.”

Rodriguez’s bond was set at $1 million.

We will update the story with the results from the courtroom.
