PHOTOS: Super-moon hovers over Austin-area

AUSTIN (KXAN) — A super-sized moon filled the sky Sunday night.

According to NASA, the moon was 14 percent larger and 30 percent brighter than average making it the closest full moon in the 21st century. This will be last time the moon is this close to Earth until the year 2034.

This moon is especially ‘super’ for two reasons: it is the only supermoon this year to be completely full, and it is the closest moon to Earth since 1948.
