A healthy heart means a healthy life, and there is plenty that you can do to keep your ticker in tiptop shape. Dr. Aparna Vallabhaneni with WellMed stopped by Studio 512 to share important tips for a heart healthy life. The good news is that a little bit of exercise or physical activity can go a long way. A 50 minute session, one time per week or a couple of 30 minute sessions through the week is all you need with activities such as brisk walking, weightlifting, swimming, gardening or working around the house. Maintaining a regular diet of fruits and veggies can also help your heart. We recommend four to five servings per day. Include whole grain foods into your diet like brown rice, whole wheat bread and multi-grain bread. Cut down on saturated and trans fats. It’s also important to skip the soda and drink more water!
