DIY Thanksgiving Decor the Kids Can Help Make

table-runner-2

If you’re hosting Thanksgiving this year, here’s a super cute DIY table runner that you can make in just a few minutes – and the kids can help!  And it’s so quick to make, you could knock this out in the morning, and focus on the rest of the food while it dries.  All you need is a table-length piece of fabric, spray paint, leaves and tape.  We bought the burlap table runner at a craft store, but you could use another type of fabric and customize it to your desired length.

Step 1: Tape down the leaves. We used decorative leaves, but you could also use real leaves. Going on a walk with the kids to help collect them would be a fun way for them to get involved!

Step 2: Spray paint the leaf ‘stencils’. We have 2 colors of paint, but you could go with 3-4 in a similar color to achieve an ombre effect. You could also have older kids help with this step.

Step 3: Wait for it to dry! It dries to the touch in about 10 minutes, but recommended handling time is 24 hours. Still, if you do this first thing in the morning it should be ready to go by turkey time.

Step 4: Remove the leaves!

The put your own personal design touches on it with some pumpkins, leaves, votives or other complimentary décor items. Now you have a custom runner for your Thanksgiving table that the kids helped make.
