ABIA had some evacuations after restaurant grease flash-up

AUSTIN, (KXAN)– A restaurant grease flash-up at Austin Bergstrom International Airport prompted some evacuations but, the situation was resolved in under 10 minutes.

Jim Halbrook, ABIA spokesperson, said because the flash-up set off fire alarms, it automatically called for an evacuation. However, he said most people did not get past security during the short-lived evacuation. The alarm went off at 3:52 p.m. and was canceled at 4 p.m.

Halbrook said he believes everyone will still make their flights.
