SAN MARCOS, Texas (KXAN) – Over a hundred people marched the streets of San Marcos in a peaceful protest against the presidential election.

Protesters gathered at a local coffee shop and walked to the Hays County Courthouse where they stood on the lawn with signs for about three and a half hours. Organizers said they held the event to protest Trumps beliefs and his campaign platform.

KXAN News caught up with a couple who drove in from San Antonio to specifically attend the event. They say they were happy to see so many people speaking out for what they believe.

“The folks here are certainly emotional about what they feel, they want to be organized and they want to work within the system or somehow leverage the system to make some change,” said protester Beth Schwartz.

There were a few trump supporters as well, there was light debate between both groups but as promised the event stayed peaceful.

Police officers were on hand for the event but there were no arrests.
