DEL VALLE, Texas (KXAN) — What crews thought was a car fire turned out to be a body burning inside the trunk of a vehicle in Travis County on Oct. 30. The suspected victim of that fire has now been identified by the Travis County Sheriff’s Office Detectives.
Bastrop resident Aaron Lee Rogers, 27, is believed to be the person found dead on Buck Lane in Del Valle. Investigators used the clues left behind to name the person, but they say it will take several more weeks to confirm the identity.
The extensive damage caused by the fire is making it difficult for detectives to definitively say Rogers is the body they found. Tips from the community helped investigators name Rogers as the potential victim.
The body was found wearing a Punisher 74 jersey, Volcom pants and athletic footwear. He also has the letters MAR in script writing tattooed on the back side of his left shoulder and a lion/flame tattoo vertically juxtaposed in the middle of his upper back.
As the homicide investigation continues officials are asking that anyone with information call Crime Stoppers at 512-472-8477.
