Our hair can undergo a lot of wear and tear, and if it’s thin to begin with, the wrong products and tools can really take a toll. Bo Paschall of Naava Salon and Spa came by to help us find renewed strength in our locks. He mentioned the importance of picking products that don’t weigh down your hair. First thing you should do is throw out anything that restricts your hair. Such as, ponytails and rubber-bands because they damage hair. If you just have to pull your hair back, headbands, braids and chopstick buns are better alternates. Another important tip Bo mentioned is finding a shampoo and conditioner that’s good for you. Bo specializing in giving his clients blow-outs. Blow drying your hair will give your locks more volume; however, with heat from the dryer, it causes weak hairs to break and fall out. So, always keep your hairdryer an inch or two away from your hair and the brush. Blow dry hair until it’s 80 percent dry. Then, you can bring styling brushes into play. To prevent damage make sure the hairdryer inst too close. Naava Salon and Spa has two locations, one downtown on West 6th Street, and in the Arboretum on Research Boulevard.
