Man shot, killed during south Austin fight identified

AUSTIN (KXAN) — A 20-year-old man who was shot and killed during a fight in south Austin early Sunday morning has been identified as Jacob Camacho.

Austin police say they responded to the 1200 block of Armadillo Road just before 1 a.m. for shots being fired. Witnesses told police a white vehicle was speeding up and down the street when he hit several parked cars and a pedestrian. The driver, identified as Camacho, then crashed into a tree. Police say Camacho and his passengers got out of the car and tried to get away, but Camacho died from apparent gunshot wounds.

The person who was hit by the car was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, they are expected to be okay.

It is not known at this time who fired the shots that killed Camacho.
