Elizabeth Van Huffel of Local Savour came by and showed us how to make a warm apple oatmeal crumble. Talk about de-lic-ious! This seasonal treat is perfect for any age to enjoy.
Ingredients needed: 4 medium apples cored and chopped, 1 cup sweetened dates chopped, 2 cups rolled oats, 1/2 cup all-purpose flour, 6 Tablespoons unsalted butter, 1/2 cup milk (we used 2%), 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon powder, 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg, 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt, 1 pint vanilla ice cream for serving.
Instructions 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl add oats, flour, butter, milk, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt, make sure to mix well. Next, add in the chopped apples and dates. Then gently stir together until well coated. Pour out evenly into a 9X13 pan. Place into the oven to bake for 35-45 minutes. 2. Once baked and slightly golden on top remove from the oven and serve with a large dollop of vanilla ice cream of your choice.
