AUSTIN (KXAN) — With large crowds of costume clad Austinites expected to celebrate Halloween on 6th Street, police are issuing a safety warning with their plans for closures on Oct. 31.

On Halloween, 6th Street will close to all traffic from Brazos Street to the Interstate 35 west frontage road starting at 6 p.m. Cross streets will also be closed between 5th and 7th Street.

After 6 p.m. all vehicles parking on 6th Street, Brazos, San Jacinto, Trinity, Neches, Red River, and Sabine will be towed. If you are towed call Southside Towing at 512-441-7094.

Police say additional roads might be closed depending on the crowd. The I-35 southbound 8th and 3rd Street exit may close if there are a lot of pedestrians in the area.

Anyone under 17-years-old is required to leave the 6th Street area by 11 p.m.
