AUSTIN, (KXAN) — Tree-folks hosted their 2nd annual Sapling Day Giveaway Saturday morning at Austin’s Cepeda Branch Library and featured education, fun and free trees.

Attendees were able to pick up free baby Burr oak or Carolina buckthorn sapling trees and learn about how to plant and care for it. The event also featured tree-themed stories in Spanish and English, tree crafts and activities and education on tree medicine.

The Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority, a supporter of Sapling Day, was on-hand speaking with community members throughout the event.

TreeFolks aims to empower Central Texas to build stronger communities through planting and caring for trees.
