BURNET, Texas (KXAN) — Burnet police have found the driver who hit a woman and took off Friday morning.
The crash happened on Wood Street near the Burnet Consolidated Independent School District bus barn around 6:20 a.m. The victim will have to undergo surgery but police say her injuries are non-life threatening.
Police say the suspect vehicle is a black passenger car, possibly a Chrysler 300, and was last seen in the area of the H-E-B grocery store. The vehicle may have front-end damage on the passenger side headlamp area.
According to Burnet PD, Chief Paul Nelson found the car himself by driving around the city. The suspect is a woman and they said she will most likely be charged next week.

“We would like to thank the public for their help with the auto-pedestrian crash case that occurred yesterday morning on Wood Street. The suspect vehicle has now been located and will be processed by DPS Crime Lab for forensic evidence linking it to the case. A suspect has also been identified and interviewed by BPG investigators, however, no arrests ahve been made yet in conjunction with the case.”
