PFLUGERVILLE, Texas (KXAN) – A longtime member of the Pflugerville Police Department, Lt. Laura Wilkes, is the subject of an internal affairs investigation into unspecified allegations dating back to mid-September, KXAN News has learned.
Lt. Wilkes remains on the job overseeing the Records Division while the process plays out, a city spokesperson confirmed. Terri Toledo also said an outside investigator was brought in last week at the request of the city manager.
“Due to my desires to do a timely, thorough and fair investigation, the city of Pflugerville has hired an independent, nationally-certified internal affairs investigator supervised by the city attorney’s office,” city manager Brandon Wade said in an email. “Because of information regarding a Lieutenant, I determined we needed an outside individual to conduct this investigation.”
Wilkes has been with the police department since March 1992.
The investigation involving Wilkes has nothing to do with money missing from the department’s evidence room, KXAN reported first Wednesday. It was unknown when the outside investigation will be completed.
