MuseAustin fundraising to help local victims of domestic violence

MuseAustin fundraising for Survive2Thrive

AUSTIN (KXAN) — One in four women are the victims of domestic violence and one in seven men.

This weekend a fundraising concert will honor survivors of domestic violence. Gary Santana joined us in the KXAN studio to discuss the MuseAustin event. He is the foundation director of Survive2Thrive, the local group benefiting from the fundraiser.

“Survive2Thrive is working to provide a national dynamic ecosystem of life-saving resources for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault who have been on a waiting list for assistance,” said Santana.

The goal is to help the violence victims who have been wait-listed for help in need of job training, counseling and finding a place to live.

They are raising funds for a thousand nights of safety. On Saturday night some of Austin’s best musicians, including Mary Wilson from The Supremes will perform at the event.

The concert will be at the Hilton Austin on Saturday starting at 6 p.m. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
