KERR COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) — Authorities in Kerr County are trying to determine the identity of a female whose remains were found by a crew clearing brush Tuesday morning. The Kerr County Sheriff’s Office says the remains were found on a property off Bartell Road near Interstate 10.

“At this point, we have no idea how the body got there,” Sheriff Rusty Hierholzer said in a statement. “We don’t know if it is a homicide or possibly a homeless person who died of exposure to the elements.”

Police say the  female victim had on size 5.5 “Shoes for Crews” shoes, size 4 pants, a black polo shirt with a red pinstripe and Snoopy Christmas socks. Initial information indicates the victim had brown, shoulder-length hair, she also had metal braces on her teeth.

While Kerr County doesn’t have any missing person report in the area matching the victim’s description, the agency is working with state and national reports to see if there is a possible match.

“The remains were transported to the Texas State University forensic anthropology lab. We will have to wait for lab test results to determine if we are looking at homicide or not,” Hierholzer said. Anyone with information on the possible identity of the victim or any information regarding a possible cause of death are asked to call the Kerr County Sheriff’s Office at 896-1216, and ask for Captain Carol Twiss or Kerr County Crime Stoppers at 896-8477.
