AUSTIN (KXAN) — “You are looking down a barrel of a gun hoping that you don’t see a bullet,” said an Austin student who was beaten and robbed at gunpoint while his girlfriend watched live on FaceTime.

The screen shots shows one of the suspects pointing a gun to Yale Gerstein’s head and another one beating him while he’s on his bed. Watch the interview with the teen as he walks you through the events from that terrifying night.

  1. OVERNIGHT: Crews working to find cause of vacant building fire: The building used to be a Champions Sporting store, but it has been vacant for years. Crews are telling the owner the building needs to be demolished because the walls are unstable.
  2. CRIME WATCH: Man accused of filming crime spree, killing relatives: The suspect was last seen near the Texas/Oklahoma border after fleeing police. He shot a Facebook Live video after he wounded two police officers.  Michael Dale Vance Jr. then drove to his aunt and uncle’s house shooting and killing them.
  3. CLASSROOM: School segregation proposed for AISD Superintendent scorecard: Dr. Paul Cruz and his staff could be responsible for coming up with a pilot program to tackle segregation encompassing schools in East and Northeast Austin. The challenge is attracting more affluent families who are choosing to send their children to charters and private schools.
