Assistant chiefs will join the cadets on the run. They gathered at the Texas Peace Officers Memorial at the State Capitol to start to the race.

After leaving the Capitol grounds, the runners are heading down Congress Avenue.

The run is meant to promote unity in the community and department. The cadets will be commissioned during graduation on Friday.
