AUSTIN (KXAN) — One of the most heated races for Austin City Council is in District 6, which serves northwest Austin. Incumbent Don Zimmerman gears up to face Jimmy Flannigan for the second time.
This November a rematch is set where Flannigan hopes his moderate view of the district will win over the district’s voters in this head to head match against conservative Zimmerman.
“I want to see actual policies pass that benefit the city of Austin and District 6 even if it takes a six to five vote because if you can’t count to six you can’t get anything done,” Flannigan said. “My opponent is celebrating being the one no vote is no way to lead.”
In his two years, Zimmerman has tested his fellow council members and even sued the city twice but continues to fight for taxpayers and to relieve the pressure from the Austin bureaucracy.
“We have some of the worst bureaucracy in the country when it comes to site development and review and permitting,” Zimmerman said.
