WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) —  The Williamson County Democratic Party says they’ll have phone banks and people knocking on doors every day up until the election. Sunday the party had six people on block walks. They’re going door to door, encouraging democrats to vote.

“Making sure everyone knows who they are, who’s going to be on their ballot,” said Catalina Casar, campaign manager for the Williamson County Democratic Party.

Volunteers aren’t trying to sway republicans, they just want to get democrats to the polls.

“To make sure they know they’re not the only democrat in Williamson County. A lot of people have opened the door for me and I’m wearing this (democratic) shirt, and they say ‘oh my goodness, you all exist?’ And I say ‘of course we do!’ We’re making sure people know that we’re here,” explains Casar.

The Williamson County Republican Party is also doing walk blocks, and reaching out to voters through social media. They aren’t sitting back, knowing they’re campaigning in a red county.

“You never take anything for granted. Williamson County is a rapidly growing county, tens of thousands of people have moved in since the last election and we do need to introduce ourselves to them,” said Bill Fairbrother, chairman of the Williamson County Republican Party.

Williamson County has three state House members up for election, and only one has a Democratic challenger. However, there are Democrats on the ballot in two County Commissioner races. There is also a democratic challenger in the U.S. congressional District 31 race.
