AUSTIN (KXAN) — An emergency repair on a 24” transmission main on Thursday has triggered Emergency Stage 4 water restrictions in select neighborhoods in Hays and Travis counties.
The transmission main delivers water to customers along western Highway 290 in Hays and Travis counties within the West Travis County Public Utility Agency (PUA) service territory. Crews continue to work on the repair. The PUA will give updates on the state of the repairs as more information is available.
Stage 4 Water Restrictions include no landscape irrigation and limited water use. The following subdivisions are required to follow the Stage 4 Restrictions until further notice:
- Hays 1
- Hays 2
- High Pointe
- Dripping Springs WSC
- Rim Rock
- Sunset Canyon
- Sawyer Ranch Rd.
- Fitzhugh Road
- Surrounding communities

The PUA is a public water and wastewater utility that serves western Travis and northern Hays counties. The Agency provides water and sewer services to an estimated population of 25,000 people.
Update at 11:30 a.m. Friday: The West Travis County Public Utility Agency (PUA) has made temporary repairs to the 24” transmission main. The Emergency Stage 4 Water Restrictions (no landscape irrigation and limited water use) in the Highway 290 service area have been lifted.
