How to Make Peach Hand Pies


Sink your teeth into what’s baking at Sweet in Lakeway. They have wide assortment of cupcakes and cookies, but shop owner Heather McClure showed us how she makes hand peach pies. First, we rolled out our dough and cut it into circles. Room temperature dough makes it much easier for folding and crimping. We had a bowl of Fredericksburg peaches, and poured in our sugar, corn starch, cinnamon and a pinch of salt. If you aren’t a fan of cinnamon, you can sub it for ginger or another spice. Stir the contents in the bowl, and take a spoonful amount and put it on one half of the dough circles. Fold the dough and crimp the edges. You can use your finger or a fork. Cut three slits into the dough so steam and heat can be released. Brush the pies with egg wash, and they’ll get that beautiful golden crusted look out of the oven. We dusted the pies with sanding sugar, and placed them in the oven. Set your oven to 350 degrees and let it bake for 20 minutes. Once the filling is bubbly and gorgeous, it’s times to call it quits!
