DIY Costumes You Already Have In Your Closet

The countdown to Halloween has officially started, and if you don’t have a costume yet, maybe you don’t even need to look any further than your own closet. Coral Smith of SoLa Boutique stopped by to show us how to mix fashion with fantasy by using pieces in your own closet. The first costume is a Sci-fi inspired: Galactic Cheerleader. The next look is 70’s inspired. The model is wearing flared bell bottom jeans with embroidery on the sides. A strip off the should top and sunnies to pull the whole costume together. Coral mentioned when getting inspiration for your costume this year, try to think out side the box and be creative with your jewelry, hair and makeup because those details play a major role. Lastly, Coral rocked a very creative costume. Her look was inspired by Frida Kaldo. For makeup she has the famous bold Frida eyebrows and a beautiful up-do braid with a flower crown to add some spunk. Have fun and dress up what you have and transform it into a unique, talk around the town costume this Halloween. Talk about COSTumes that COST nothing, yet look chic. SoLa is located on South Lamar. They’re having a sidewalk sale on Saturday from 8 A.M. to noon. You can call 512-441-7370 or go to for more information. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
