AUSTIN (KXAN) — A mental health call ended with a woman dead Sunday morning in south Austin. Police were called by a husband who said his wife had a weapon.
The woman approached officers with a weapon in her hands pointed towards the officers saying “shoot me, shoot me, kill me.” She was told to drop her weapon, but continued walking forward. Officers fired several shots at her. She later died in the hospital.
- Man stabbed to death in North Austin: The victims brother called police on Sunday after finding his brother had been stabbed in the stomach. The victim died a short time later. Police have launched a homicide investigation.
- Green party presidential candidate visits Austin: Dr. Jill Stein, a candidate you probably haven’t heard much about, will be in Austin as a part of her Texas campaign tour. She was the only candidate to answer the call from Huston-Tillotson University in east Austin to speak at their school.
- Career Point College closes: 1,400 students are left without a place to learn. The Career Point College campus has closed after new surfaced that three long-term employees had violated rules for student aid funds. The Department of Education cut off government funds to the college after hearing about the inappropriate activity.
- Bull riders pay tribute to teen who died: Cody Hopkins, 13, died of complications from the West Nile virus, according to his family. His ashes were placed on the back of a bull for the junior bull riders one last ride.
