Man dies from stab wounds in North Austin

AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Austin Police Department are currently investigating a possible homicide that occurred Sunday morning at the Cricket Hollow Apartments, 11441 N. Interstate 35.

Police responded to a call at around 9:36 a.m. for a urgent welfare check, the victim’s brother called 9-1-1 after finding his brother with stab wounds in his stomach. APD confirmed that when they arrived on the scene there was a 25-year-old male with trauma to his lower abdomen.

ATCEMS arrived to the scene at approximately 9:42 a.m. and transported the victim to the hospital. At 10:21 a.m. the victim was pronounced deceased from the injuries to his abdomen.

APD has launched a homicide investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death. Police believe this to be an isolated incident and said there is no reason to believe the public or residents of the apartment complex are in danger. They are currently interviewing the victim’s family, fiance and multiple sources to find out more about the victim’s life and what could have led up to the tragedy.

There is no suspect at this time and this is an on-going investigation. APD said there will be more information available Monday or Tuesday of this week.
